Energy Law
Martin Pringle's energy law practice provides a diverse background of experience ranging from oil and gas law to utilities and regulation. Kansas is one of the major oil and gas producing states in the country, and Wichita has long been the center of the oil and gas business in Kansas. Wichita's proximity to the El Dorado oil field and the Hugoton natural gas field, as well as other significant producing areas in the state led to Martin Pringle's early involvement in legal issues related to oil and gas exploration activities. From that beginning, the firm has expanded its oil and gas practice and now offers legal advice and representation to producers, pipelines, public utilities and non-traditional energy clients, as well as oil and gas leasehold estate owners, oil field suppliers, drilling companies and lessors.
Martin Pringle brings not only a wealth of legal expertise to our oil and gas practice, but also much practical experience. Lawyers with the firm have been actively involved in the oil and gas business, through ownership and operation of companies engaged in oil field exploration, rotary drilling, oil field trucking and service on the board of directors of independent operators. That knowledge of our oil and gas clients' businesses allows our lawyers to provide proactive advice that avoids potential problems. Martin Pringle attorneys have experience dealing with a variety of legal matters related to oil and gas exploration and production, public utility rate cases and condemnation actions.
Our expertise includes title examination, drafting and review of oil and gas agreements of every type, as well as acquisition and financing issues. Our firm has experience drafting regulatory filings and litigating cases before the Kansas Corporation Commission, which regulates both public utilities and oil and gas exploration and production, in addition to other state and federal administrative agencies and the state and federal courts. Lawyers in the energy law practice area have written and lectured extensively on environmental issues associated with oil and gas activities and have been recognized as outstanding practitioners in advising oil and gas companies in the area of environmental compliance.
Martin Pringle also has experience organizing foreign corporations for the purpose of oil and gas exploration and has drafted and obtained necessary documents and permits to carry on oil and gas activities in several foreign countries. In addition, Martin Pringle has represented its energy clients in other matters, including workers compensation, personal injury claims, product liability matters, and contract disputes.
