With more than 25 years’ experience, Mike Griffin is a recognized authority on estate planning, tax law, and business law matters. He was honored by the Kansas City Business Journal in 2005 as a Best of the Bar recipient and is a regular presenter on topics affecting individual and business clients. Mike graduated from Loyola University, cum laude, in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and went on to receive his Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1985. Mike's English degree fostered his writing skills, as well as the creativity and analytical thinking, that he now uses to find practical solutions for his individual and business clients.
Mike is well versed in the area of estate planning and estate administration. He invests the time and possesses the skills to guide individuals through the process of protecting their families’ futures. He works with clients to reach their asset protection goals, and assists them with their estate planning needs by drafting documents, such as wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, special needs trusts, family limited partnership agreements, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. Mike also has experience with estate tax returns and gift tax returns, and he has administered a number of decedent's probate estates.
Mike advises business clients on a wide range of transactional matters and has a comprehensive understanding of the issues facing owners of large and small businesses. He has a wealth of experience in assisting clients with business formation and carefully guides them through deciding whether to form as a "C" corporation, subchapter "S" corporation, or limited liability company. Additionally, he has experience with negotiating and preparing merger and acquisition documents, buy-sell agreements, by-laws, operating agreements, succession planning documents, employment non-compete agreements, and private placement memoranda.
