Meet Rick Thompson

Rick Thompson has a diverse legal practice that centers on assisting clients with complex regulatory matters and financial disputes. Raised in Augusta, Kansas, Rick went to law school at the University of Minnesota, but returned to south-central Kansas to practice at Martin Pringle after graduating in 1991. His deep ties to the Wichita community give him a familiarity with its business environment and the legal needs of area business people. Rick has earned a reputation for effective advocacy and zealous service to his clients. An avid tennis player and sports enthusiast, Rick is involved in the community’s athletics programs, including serving as a board member of the Andover, Kansas YMCA and President of the the United States Tennis Association, Kansas District, Missouri Valley Section.

Fun Fact

Rick is an avid tennis player and once took a game off a Wimbledon quarter-finalist. In all fairness, his opponent may have been intoxicated at the time.

Creditor's Rights

Rick has a substantial creditor’s rights practice that employs a dedicated staff and draws on a range of available methods to timely and efficiently assist clients. He advises clients on various creditor’s issues, including bankruptcy and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Rick represents businesses throughout the state of Kansas on creditor matters, with the capability of assisting clients with their national and international issues. Some members of the collections staff speak Spanish fluently, which helps in communicating with persons of limited English proficiency.

Immigration Law

Rick has developed an active employment-based immigration practice, assisting businesses with compliance issues, including I-9 compliance and immigration audits. He also represents individuals in obtaining and maintaining lawful immigration status in the United States.

Family Law

Business owners and other high net worth individuals have special needs when family law issues arise.  Rick is an experienced family law attorney, with a successful track record of representing clients in these financially complex family law matters.
