Office Assistant / Receptionist - Kansas City

Classification
Hourly / Non-exempt

Reports to
Office Manager, Attorneys

Summary/Objective 
Provide legal office support to the Kansas City, MO, office as the receptionist and back-up to the other support staff.

Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Answer multi-line phone system
  • Answer routine questions of staff, attorneys, and clients
  • Greet clients / guests, show them to their conference room, offer drink
  • Take messages for those who are unable to personally take the call
  • Enter time into the computer billing system for those assigned
  • Back-up legal secretaries and paralegals as needed
  • Routine office duties
  • Copying, scanning, and filing
  • Send and receive faxes; deliver faxes as received
  • Prepare mail; sort mail; collect mail
  • Prepare packages for UPS and FedEx
  • Inner-office deliveries
  • Collect recycle
  • Paper stock / Office supplies
  • Keep kitchens and conference rooms picked up and clean
  • All other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, but not frequent.
